President: Lanie Crawford
Lanie is a work at home mom, business owner entrepreneur, Office Manager/Accountant, and former Veterinary Technician that resides in Kansas with her husband, three children, and several animals that include dogs (AKK of course!), cats, rabbits, chickens, and goats. The Crawford menagerie almost always includes foster animals as well. Lanie has two Associates degrees, a Bachelor's of Animal Science, minor in Business, and still has the goal of finishing her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine one day. Lanie's passion in life is clearly animals - espescially dogs and rescue work. She has been involved in rescue in an official capacity for more than two decades (and for several years before that she volunteered for the local animal shelter and helped other rescue groups). She has been active in dog show conformation, obedience, animal assisted therapy, fieldwork, and has interests in agility, weight pull, hunt tests, and field trials. Lanie seems to tend to take on some of the most difficult rescue cases, often those with behavioral issues that need some of the most work and have nowhere else to go. One of her most favorite AKK personal fosters to date was Keanu, and he will forever hold a special place in her heart. (Search "Keanu" on our Facebook page posts to read his amazing story!) Lanie has been a member of Alaskan Klee Kai Association of America, United Alaskan Klee Kai Association, Weimaraner Club of Greater Kansas City, Weimaraner Club of America, the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, Sunflower Kennel Club, Lawrence-Jayhawk Kennel Club, Weimaraner Rescue Railroad, and is also the founder of a local private rescue, RSTAR Rescue. Lanie was the chairperson for the AKKAOA Rescue League from March 2006 until June 2008, at which time she co-founded Alaskan Klee Kai National Rescue, Inc.

Volunteer/Shelter Outreach Director: Danielle BatesDanielle had lived on the west coat most of her life, but now resides in Georgia, where she feels it has the best of all seasons from the west coat. Danielle loves dogs, and grew up with a father and grandfather that bred Shepherds, Irish Setters, and American Pit Bull Terriers. She has adopted and fostered many dogs over the years, from Pomerians to Beagle/Boxer mixes, and Shepherds to Siberian huskies.
Danielle's love for Alaskan Klee Kai started about ten years ago when she first learned about and began to research the breed, and was lucky to find a breeder looking to rehome a retired female AKK. Keskea was the best addition to Danielle's family, and caused both her and her husband to fall in love with the breed. They currently have two wonderfully playful AKK, Imanni and Kesuk (who are just one month apart in age), and keep them on their toes. They also have a Beagle/Boxer mix, and several fosters pass through their doors.
Once a bookeeper for the SIDS foundation, Danielle applies her experiences there to her work with AKKNR. She doesn't take anything for granted, believes that every situation is handled differently and that every fur baby has a story, and follows that idealism with all rescues and non-profits she has worked with. She also has more than thirty years of experience in finance and using her analytical approach to situations to help find the best fit and approach for everyone. Danielle is working on completing her Bachelor's in Business Managment and hopes to start Veterinary Technician school in the Fall of 2022. She wants to bring affordable home care to pet owners in the future, and may even want to become a Veterinarian.
When Danielle is not busy with other work, she enjoys spending time with her husband and furbabies, camping, traveling, and watching movies cuddled together on the couch.
